Mitchell’s Bay on Lake St. Clair will come alive with spooky, nautical-themed fun this Saturday, October 12, 2024, with the “Creatures of the Deep – ZomBAY Sunset Paddle.” The community is invited to participate in this eerie event, where participants are encouraged to dress as nautical zombies—think washed-up mermaids, sunken sailors, pirates, and swamp creatures—as they paddle kayaks, canoes, or stand-up paddleboards from 6 p.m. to sunset.
The event will launch from Mitchell’s Bay Wharf, and after paddling into the sunset, participants can head to Five-Eau Outpost for drinks and snacks. Spectators and participants are asked to bring a canned or non-perishable food item to donate to The Salvation Army Chatham Kent.
There will also be a trick-or-treating opportunity for paddlers, as small boats anchored outside the swim area buoys will be handing out candy.
A limited number of stand-up paddleboards are available for rent in advance.
Participants must bring their own life jackets and safety gear.
The event is supported by Walker Marine and Five-Eau Outpost.
