Assault charges laid in Chatham after a domestic incident

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 27, 2024, at approximately 9:58 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a domestic dispute in the area of St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a verbal argument between a man and his common-law partner had escalated significantly over the course of the evening and that one of the involved parties had contacted police for assistance.

Further investigation into the matter revealed their argument to have turned violent at one point, when the man assaulted the woman by pushing her into the wall and throwing her to the ground.

As a result of the altercation, police arrested the 62-year-old Chatham man for one count of assault.

He was ultimately transported to police headquarters for processing, where he was later released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.
