Failing to attend court charge laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 18, 2024, the Chatham-Kent Police Service charged a woman with mischief under $5,000 after she had damaged a glass window at a business in the downtown Chatham area.

Following her arrest, the woman was released on an undertaking with a future court date, however, she failed to attend court as required.

As such, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On October 28, 2024, at approximately 1:58 a.m., police on general patrol located the 31-year-old woman on Church Street in Chatham.

She was subsequently arrested on the strength of this outstanding warrant, and later released on an appearance notice compelling her back to court at a later date.
