This year’s annual ‘Handbags for Hospice’ event was hosted at the Everest Convention Centre on Thursday, October 17, 2024, by a group of committed volunteers.
The sold-out event raised a record $34,000 to support local families receiving care from the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
The event included twelve games of Bingo where the prize for each round is a designer handbag, a raffle table offering 31 prizes generously donated by community members and local businesses, as well as a Platinum Purse draw for a Michael Kors weekender bag and accessories.
“We are so thankful to the planning committee and the community for their support of Handbags for Hospice.
A special thank you to those who sponsored handbags in memory of their loved ones.
This was the sixth year for the event, and combined it has raised over $155,000 for families facing end of life.
These funds will be used to provide our Hospice residents and their families with compassionate care and our community with grief and bereavement support at no cost to them,” shared Jodi Maroney, Executive Director, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
Because of the popularity of this event, a second Handbags for Hospice event is planned for April 24, 2025.
Ticket sales will open to the public in February.
