Damage is estimated at $100,000 after a fire at a multi-unit residential complex on Timmins Crescent in Chatham at 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
“Station #1 and #2 responded to a report of a structure fire at 153 Timmins Crescent,” fire officials say.
“Upon arrival, firefighters observed visible flames emanating from the second-floor window of the residential complex. The prompt actions of the fire crews led to the containment of the fire within the bedroom, preventing further spread. The incident resulted in smoke and water damage throughout the remainder of the unit, but fortunately, the fire did not extend to adjacent units.”
Fire officials added: “Firefighters implemented efficient tactics to suppress the flames, minimizing damage and ensuring the safety of other residents. One individual suffered from smoke inhalation and sustained burns to one hand, while trying to extinguisher the fire before leaving their unit.”
CK EMS utilized a CynoKit to provide immediate treatment for the patient’s condition before transporting them to the hospital for further care, fire officials say.
