A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight, December 19, 2024, into Friday morning, December 20, 2024.
Environment Canada officials say hazards, include: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 5 to 10 cm and poor visibility at times in heavy snow.
The timing is late evening into Friday morning.
“A band of lake effect snow off Lake Erie will develop late this evening,” forecasters say.
“This band, combined with an incoming low pressure system, is expected to produce locally enhanced snowfall amounts. The Friday morning commute will be affected. Snow will taper to light flurries late Friday morning.”
Forecasters added: “Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
