Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 18, 2024, at 4:46 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received information from Peel Regional Police of a possible abduction.
Through investigative efforts, it was believed the suspect was in the north-end of Chatham.
With detailed information provided by Peel Regional Police Service, officers successfully located the suspect vehicle on St. Clair Street.
As officers initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated southbound on St. Clair Street at a high rate of speed, disregarding traffic signals.
At 6:34 p.m., the vehicle was involved in a collision at the Grand Avenue West and St. Clair Street intersection but continued westbound on Grand Avenue until the vehicle stopped due to mechanical issues.
The male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot and attempted to evade arrest.
Officers located the man hiding on private property.
The 48-year-old Kitchener man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
He has been charged with flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop after an accident.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is actively communicating with the Peel Regional Police and Halton Police Service in regard to on-going investigations.
In relation to the incident above, the Peel Regional Police allege: Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have confirmed the wellbeing of a female involved in a physical altercation with a male in Mississauga.
On December 17, 2024, at 11:47 a.m., police received a report of an altercation between a man and a woman in the area of Mississauga Road and Meadowvale Boulevard in Mississauga.
During the incident, the man was reportedly seen striking the female and forcing her into a vehicle before leaving the area.
Thanks to the efforts and assistance of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, a 48-year-old Kitchener man was located and arrested within their jurisdiction in the evening of December 18 and now faces additional charges.
The man faces charges of Assault and Forcible Confinement once returned to the custody of Peel Regional Police.
The female involved in the incident has been located in good health.
