Municipal officials say the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission (CK PUC) is required under the Municipal Act, 2001, Part XII to pass a by-law in order to impose fees or charges related to Water and Wastewater Systems.
Under the Municipality’s Notice Bylaw 137-2020, before passing a by-law under Part XII of the Act, CK PUC is required to:
– Hold at least one public meeting at which any person who attends has an opportunity to make representation with respect to the matter.
– Publish Public Notice on the Municipal Website a minimum of 14 days prior to the meeting.
Administration will be submitting a revision to the Water and Wastewater Rates By-law to amend certain fees at the next regular public meeting on January 16, 2025, Municipal officials added.
