Jacqueline May “Jackie” Carter (nee Lockett) of Chatham and formerly Dresden and Toronto passed away on December 27, 2024. She was born in1938 in Cambridge (Galt) Ontario and Jackie is predeceased by her husband H. Douglas Carter (2012) and her parents.
She was the sister of Jim (Carol) Rath of Chatham and David Rath of Grimsby. Cherished aunt of Leanne Wilson (Patrick) of Oshawa, Vicky Noble (Scott) of England, Rebecca Rath of British Columbia, Blake Handsor (Michele) of Chatham, Terry Rath (Rosey) of New Hamburg, Ian Rath of British Columbia, Jeff Handsor (Nadia) of Huntsville and Special Cousin Gary Hopcraft (Donna) of Kitchener. She will be dearly missed by her many great nieces and nephews.
For 25 years, Jackie’s career involved providing personnel search and recruitment services to employer clients in the Greater Toronto Area and abroad. Her career took her to England, California and across Canada. She was owner and operator of her personnel agency in Toronto for many years and subsequently was the National Executive Director for her industry association “ACSESS” (previously known as APPAC-Association of Professional Placement Agencies and Consultants). Upon her retirement in 1998, she was honoured with a life membership in the Association.
Jackie became a member of Dresden Community Church after she and her husband retired and moved to Dresden. She and Doug were ardent boaters spending many summers in Georgian Bay and the North Channel. She was a past member of the Canadian Power Squadron and the Great Lakes Cruising Club.
Cremation will take place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Dresden Community Church Food Bank, Chatham-Kent Hospice or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence and staff and Volunteers at Chatham-Kent Hospice for their compassionate care.
