OPP officials allege: On January 8, 2025, Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in a joint forces traffic safety initiative at Bluewater Bridge in Point Edward.
Lambton OPP partnered with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and the Federal Bridge Corporation-Bluewater Bridge, the enforcement effort focused on ensuring compliance with traffic laws and promoting public safety.
During the initiative, officers conducted nine commercial vehicle inspections.
As a result, 13 commercial motor vehicle charges were laid for violations, including:
· Improper use of border approach lane
· Hours of service non-compliance
· Window tint exceeding legal limits
· Expired Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration (CVOR)
The Lambton OPP would like to remind CMV operators to always use the correct approach lane when traveling to the border. Plan ahead, follow posted signage, and remain in your designated lane to help make border crossings safer and more efficient for everyone. Traffic Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility.
