Update: The winter storm warning is no longer in effect in Chatham-Kent. The latest weather forecast can be found, here.
A winter storm warning continues Sunday morning, February 16, 2025, across Chatham-Kent.
At 3:21 a.m., Environment Canada said additional snowfall accumulations of 7 to 15 cm is expected, along with significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow, plus slippery surfaces and light ice build-up from freezing drizzle.
Forecasters say the storm is expected to end on Sunday afternoon.
The heaviest snow is expected in the morning and for regions east of Lake Huron, snow squalls will develop in the evening.
“Periods of freezing drizzle or drizzle at time mixed with light snow will linger before conditions deteriorate this morning as a more significant area of snow and blowing snow arrives,” forecasters say.
“Latest analysis suggests that snowfall accumulations will be less than initially forecast. Travel is not recommended. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
