2.7 magnitude earthquake felt in Chatham-Kent

Earthquakes Canada officials confirmed an earthquake was felt in Chatham-Kent on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 3:40 p.m. registering at a 2.7 magnitude.

“There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected,” Earthquakes Canada officials say.

The earthquake was located 31 km East of Chatham, at a depth of 10 km.

A number of residents reported feeling the quake around the Ridgetown area, describing it mostly as weak to light intensity.

“It is very unlikely that an earthquake of magnitude less than 5 could cause any damage,” Earthquakes Canada officials added.
