High risk arrest after a gun call in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On February 28, 2025 at 5 p.m., police were dispatched to a male with a gun call in the area of an Exmouth Street shelter.

Police arrived within minutes and contained a group of four people, including the male matching the description of the gun suspect.

Given the nature of the allegation, officers conducted a high-risk arrest and all four were taken into custody without incident. All three parties were searched for weapons, but no firearm was located.

However, during the search of one male, police located 9 grams of Fentanyl and several torch style lighters inside his backpack.

One torch style lighter had a grip that replicated a life size handgun.

A police record check revealed this male to be on court-imposed conditions not to possess incendiary devices.

The other three individuals were released unconditionally.

A 49-year-old man of no fixed address, was held for bail on the following charges:

– Fail to Comply with Release Order (bail conditions)

– Breach Probation contrary

– Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Fentanyl
