Theatre Kent is set to bring the Canadian comedy The Perils of Persephone to the stage this season. Written by playwright Dan Needles, the play will be performed on April 12 with a matinee and evening show at the Fellowship Hall of St. Andrew’s Church.
Set in a small rural community, The Perils of Persephone follows the Currie family as their farm is thrown into chaos when a government official arrives with troubling news—an unidentified toxic waste truck has crashed on their property. What follows is a series of comedic misunderstandings, bureaucratic mishaps, and small-town resilience.
Director Keith Burnett said the play blends sharp humor with heartfelt moments that celebrate farming life. “Our cast has brought so much energy to these characters, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience the fun,” he said.
With its mix of satire and slapstick, The Perils of Persephone is a must-see for fans of Canadian theatre and anyone with an appreciation for rural life and comedy.
The play will be performed on Saturday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Fellowship Hall, St. Andrew’s Church, 85 William St. S. Tickets are available online at theatrekent.com or at the door.
