Men’s survival skills workshops being held on Walpole Island

A series of men’s survival skills workshops will take place on Walpole Island later this month, offering hands-on training in essential outdoor techniques.

Led by Jordan Ermatinger, the workshops will run on March 26, 27, 28, and 31, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the Walpole Island Highbanks Lodge, with the final session taking place at the Walpole Island Health Centre.

The sessions will cover a range of survival skills, including fire-building, shelter construction, snare-making, and the skinning and cooking of small wild game.

The program is open to men aged 17 and older, with only 10 spots available. Those interested in attending can register by calling 519-627-0765.

The workshop is facilitated by Darryl Blackbird and co-facilitator Miranda Shipman.
