The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Cristian Suffi and Katelyn (Katie) Murphy as Student Trustees for the 2025-2026 school year.
Cristian Suffi, a student at Ursuline College Chatham, will represent the voice of students in Chatham-Kent, while Katelyn Murphy, from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Sarnia, will represent students from the Sarnia-Lambton region.
Cristian is a well-rounded student known for his academic excellence, commitment to extracurricular activities, and strong leadership skills. He is an honour roll student, a dedicated athlete and performer, and an active member of student life at UCC through Lancer Link and volunteer involvement. Fluent in both English and Italian, Cristian brings a global perspective and a passion for personal growth to his new leadership role.
Katie is a passionate and faith-driven student leader at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School. As the current Minister of Faith on Student Council and an active member of various school and community service clubs, Katie is deeply engaged in initiatives that promote student involvement, social justice, and Catholic values. Her dedication to service and leadership has made a positive impact both in her school and beyond.
“Having student voice at our table is a powerful reminder of who we serve and why our work matters,” says Lisa Demers, incoming Director of Education, in a media release. “Cristian and Katie are both outstanding leaders who embody the mission and values of Catholic education. We are excited to welcome them to the Board in this important role.”
The role of Student Trustee provides an opportunity for student leaders to contribute to Board discussions, represent the interests of their peers, and help shape the future of Catholic education across the district.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board congratulates Cristian and Katie on their appointments and looks forward to their contributions in the year ahead.
