Sam Demma to inspire St. Clair Catholic students with keynote address on mental health

St. Clair Catholic is excited to welcome Sam Demma, best-selling author and one of Canada’s top keynote speakers, for a transformative experience this April.

On April 23rd, Sam will speak at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School, and on April 24th, he will visit Ursuline College Chatham.

Sam’s keynote, Empty Your Backpack, addresses the mental burdens we carry and empowers individuals to reflect on the negative beliefs and thoughts that hold them back. With nearly 700 performances under his belt, Sam’s impactful messages of mental health, kindness, and leadership resonate deeply with students everywhere.

Recently, Sam and St. Clair Catholic’s Chris Preece, Manager of Mental Health Services, released a podcast discussing the importance of mental health in schools. This conversation sets the stage for the powerful discussion Sam will lead with students in April.

“We are truly excited to welcome Sam Demma to St. Clair Catholic. His keynote is more than just a presentation—it’s an opportunity for our entire community to come together and engage in a meaningful conversation about mental health,” says Lisa Demers, Incoming Director of Education, in a media release. “Sam’s message will encourage our students to reflect on their own journeys, empower them to build resilience, and provide us with a unique opportunity to deepen the conversation and connect with one another through compassion and understanding.”

Students from across the district will travel to their local Catholic high school to experience a 60-minute keynote filled with inspiration, self-reflection, and practical tools for resilience. Sam’s captivating presentation will guide students to develop leadership skills, reflect on their personal growth, and embrace a positive mindset.
