The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) has appointed Kelly Holbrough as superintendent of education, effective July 1, 2026.
The board announced the appointment on June 2, saying Holbrough brings extensive system-level leadership experience along with a strong background in student achievement, school improvement and equity-focused education.
Holbrough has previously served as principal at W. Sherwood Fox Public School and C.C. Carrothers Elementary School within the Thames Valley District School Board, where her data-informed instructional leadership was credited with contributing to gains in student outcomes.
She also held the role of academic superintendent with the London District Catholic School Board, where she oversaw areas including special education, mental health and well-being, early years programming, leadership development, and elementary operations and staffing. In that capacity, she provided system-level leadership across up to 30 families of schools.
The board noted Holbrough is recognized for collaborative and equity-driven leadership and has completed advanced training in conflict resolution and alternative dispute resolution. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
In her new role, Holbrough will report to the board’s chief executive officer and support system-wide initiatives focused on student achievement, well-being and equitable outcomes, while providing leadership to multiple Kindergarten to Grade 12 families of schools.
“We are pleased to welcome Kelly to the LKDSB Senior Team,” said Gary Girardi, chief executive officer of the Lambton Kent District School Board. “Her depth of experience, strong instructional background, and commitment to equity-driven, relationship-centred practice will be tremendous assets as we continue to advance our strategic priorities.”
Holbrough said she is looking forward to joining the board and working collaboratively with staff and students.
“I very much look forward to working collaboratively to support learning environments where every student feels reflected, supported, and empowered,” she said.
The board is encouraging the community to welcome Holbrough as she begins her new role supporting schools across the Lambton Kent region.
