Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service has recovered stolen property following a break and enter incident, which was reported on March 25, 2025.
The incident, which occurred between March 21 and March 25, involved the theft of a new tank-less hot water heater.
On March 31, 2025, at approximately 14:00 hours, police received information from a complainant, a 28-year-old male from Chatham, who had identified a listing on social media marketplace that matched the description of the stolen item.
Upon investigation, Chatham-Kent Police officers were able to trace the listing to a local residence.
Along with further investigation, Chatham-Kent Police officers confirmed that the water heater matched the one reported stolen.
As a result, the accused, a 34-year-old male from Chatham was placed under arrest for possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and was later released with a future court date scheduled for April 28, 2025.
Shortly after, the stolen property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner by the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 31, 2025, Chatham-Kent Police officers conducted a R.I.D.E (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at multiple locations throughout the municipality.
A total of 374 vehicles were checked.
Officers administered three Approved Screening Device (ASD) tests, and six cautions were issued under the Highway Traffic Act.
