Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 1, 2025, at approximately 06:35hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a reported robbery at a local gas station in Dresden.
A male suspect entered the business and threatened the victim, a 29-year-old male from Dresden, demanding the keys to his vehicle.
The suspect, a 42-year-old male from Wallaceburg then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Officers were provided with a description, and the identity of the suspect was quickly confirmed through video surveillance.
A short time after, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the stolen vehicle had been involved in a single motor vehicle collision north of Glencoe and was abandoned at the scene.
Further investigation led OPP officers to locate the suspect in Petrolia.
The individual was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters.
The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
The accused is facing the following charges:
– Robbery with violence
– Theft of a Motor vehicle involving violence
– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused is also currently being held for bail.
