This is a heat exchanger from an older rooftop unit. Each tube had a 12 inch crack and you can see my screwdriver is buried in one tube. We usually get on owners for not maintaining, but this owner had two different companies check this unit. One replaced the blower motor and didn’t pick up the problem. Older units like this need combustion testing every year. Luckily the Chatham Kent Fire Department did find it and shut it down. We replaced with a new heat exchanger and got them back up and running.
