On Saturday afternoon, the Walpole Island Fire Department responded to another significant marsh fire on Squirrel Island.
“Due to limited access for our larger apparatus, our BRUSH1 unit was deployed and performed exceptionally well under challenging conditions,” Walpole fire officials stated.
“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our crew, the majority of the fire was quickly contained, and there was no threat to nearby homes. We remain committed to protecting our community and its natural surroundings.”
