Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 26, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., an officer, performing stationary radar on Wheatley Road, observed a dark-coloured sedan traveling at an excessively high rate of speed.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to reduce speed, prompting the officer to self-terminate the pursuit for safety reasons.
Subsequent investigative efforts, enhanced by our CCTV system, played a crucial role in identifying the vehicle involved in this incident.
As a result, the driver was identified.
The 17-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with the following.
– Fail to stop when signaled or requested to do so by a Police Officer HTA 216(1)
– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – speeding by 50 or more km/h in 80km/h zone HTA 172(1)
– Dangerous operation CC 320.13(1)
The vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, and his license has been suspended for 30 days.
