Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent raises $160,000 at annual gala

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent raised more than $160,000 at its third annual Gala for the Kids on April 5.

Held at the Chatham Armoury, the event brought in $160,325 to support local children and youth with physical, developmental and communication challenges.

Guests embraced this year’s “Golden Age of Travel” theme, stepping into the glamour of a 1960s-style first-class journey. Panoramic screens spanning 90 feet across the venue displayed images from around the world, while guests enjoyed themed appetizers, a five-course meal and a late-night snack.

Cultural performances included dancers from the Cornell School of Irish Dance and the Portuguese Club of Chatham Folklore Group.

“This community continues to amaze us with their generosity and passion for helping our kids,” said Mike Genge, president of the CTC Foundation. “Every dollar raised helps ensure that no child in Chatham-Kent falls through the cracks when it comes to accessing vital services and support.”

Live and silent auctions featured exclusive travel packages, one-of-a-kind items, and experiences both local and international.

Funds raised will go toward programs not covered by government funding, including social work, therapeutic recreation and music therapy. The Children’s Treatment Centre supports one in five children in Chatham-Kent each year.

The Foundation’s next event, Run for the Kids, takes place June 22 at Rondeau Provincial Park. The family-friendly run/walk includes a 200-metre and 5-kilometre accessible route.
