A tornado has been confirmed to have passed just southwest of Glencoe, according to the Northern Tornadoes Project.
Dr. David Sills, director of the Northern Tornadoes Project, said a survey team is currently assessing damage along the storm’s path.
“We have confirmed a tornado that passed just southwest of Glencoe. The preliminary damage rating is EF0. An NTP survey team is there now assessing the damage along the tornado’s path. There was also hail damage reported in the Highgate area. A team may also investigate the damage there. We are still receiving reports so there may be additional damaging events.”
Environment Canada issued a tornado warning covering parts of Chatham-Kent on Thursday evening.
Officials say additional reports of damage are still being reviewed as assessments continue in the area.
We’ll provide more details when they become available.
