CKHA welcomes new obstetrician / gynecologist

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced the recruitment of Dr. Jessica Smith to its Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) department.

Hospital officials say Dr. Smith’s arrival expands the hospital’s dedicated OB/GYN team to five physicians, working alongside the midwifery team to provide comprehensive care to patients across the municipality.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Smith to CKHA and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Acting Chief of Staff, CKHA, in a press release.

“Her extensive training, particularly her fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, represents a significant enhancement to our surgical program and our ability to offer specialized women’s healthcare services locally.”

Dr. Smith, originally from Windsor-Essex, graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Windsor Campus in 2016.

She completed a five-year Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, followed by a specialized Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery in Toronto.

Dr. Smith brings valuable experience from her previous practice as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Toronto, Waterloo, and Cambridge.

Choosing Chatham-Kent as her new home, Dr. Smith will offer a broad spectrum of services.

These include pre-pregnancy counseling, comprehensive pregnancy and postpartum care.

Her gynecological practice focus includes managing pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, and providing menopause care, among other services.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team of OB/GYNs, midwives, physician colleagues and allied health providers who are passionate about women’s healthcare in Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Smith, in a media release.

“Now more than ever, we need to prioritize women’s health, and I am excited to help champion the cause.”

Dr. Smith will be practicing alongside Dr. Charles Hamm, Chief of OB/GYN, at his clinic located at 100 King Street West in Chatham.

Referrals to Dr. Smith can be made by a primary care practitioner and are being accepted via fax at 226-996-1060 and will begin the triage process in May.
