Failing to attend court charge laid against Wallaceburg man stemming from January theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 3, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a theft report involving a stolen package from a porch on King Street West in Chatham.

Surveillance footage and a suspect description led officers to an individual carrying a package that did not match the name provided in the investigation.

The suspect, a 34-year-old male from Wallaceburg, was arrested for theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released with conditions and a future court date of March 17, 2025. When he failed to appear in court, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On May 13, 2025, at approximately 8:39 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police located the accused, who was wanted on an unendorsed warrant for failing to attend court and failing to comply with probation conditions.

He was arrested and turned over to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, where he is being held for bail.

As a result, he was released by the Court with a new court appearance scheduled for June 5, 2025.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the Ontario Provincial Police for their assistance in this incident.
