Sacred Heart Catholic School in Port Lambton unveils major renovation milestone

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Port Lambton has completed Phase 2 of a multi-million-dollar renovation project, marking a major step forward in the school’s modernization and growth.

The $4.57-million facelift, funded through the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s renewal capital allocation, includes sweeping interior and exterior upgrades designed to create a more inclusive, engaging, and future-ready learning environment.

“This project represents a significant investment into the future of Sacred Heart,” said Lisa Demers, Director of Education. “By enhancing our school facilities, we’re not only meeting the needs of today’s learners but also creating a space where future generations can learn and thrive.”

Among the highlights are a redesigned front entrance and vestibule, a renovated main office, and a reimagined gymnasium complete with a drop-down stage, new flooring, and upgraded basketball nets. The school’s library, staff room, and three additional classrooms have also been refreshed with new windows, flooring, custom millwork, and a fresh coat of paint.

The school’s exterior saw major improvements, including new brickwork, added insulation at both the front and rear, roof repairs, and sealing and painting around the gym. A key upgrade to the outdoor area was the expansion and resurfacing of the back play area, giving students more space to socialize and stay active.

Accessibility was another focus, with the addition of a new universal washroom and upgrades to the existing accessible washroom to ensure the school remains inclusive for all students.

Striking new signage now welcomes students and visitors alike, reflecting the renewed vibrancy and spirit of the Sacred Heart community.

“The transformation of our school has been amazing,” said Principal Carrie Webb-Coene, in a media release.

“The upgrades have made a huge difference in our learning spaces, and our entire school community is thrilled to see these improvements come to life.”

The Sacred Heart community is celebrating not just the physical changes, but what they represent: a long-term investment in student success, backed by support from the Ministry of Education.
