Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police arrested a 55-year-old man Wednesday morning in connection with an outstanding warrant from last year.
Police said the case stems from a September 2024 break-in at a business on Queen Street North in Tilbury. Officers at the time found a man crouched behind equipment with a siphon hose and gas can after a security system alerted the property owner. He was charged and released but failed to appear in court, prompting a warrant for his arrest.
On Wednesday at about 9:35 a.m., officers conducted a person stop on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and arrested the man on the outstanding endorsed warrant. He was taken to the South West Detention Centre, where he remains in custody pending a video court appearance on September 15.
