Organizers of the Wallaceburg and Walpole Island Bike Exchange are putting out a call for used bike donations as they prepare for another season of giving.
Now in its third year, the volunteer-run program collects, repairs, and donates bicycles to children in need. The effort is run in partnership with the annual Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo, where kids learn cycling skills and road safety.
“Every year we’ve given away every single bike,” said organizers in a statement. “The demand keeps growing—and so does the joy it brings.”
Community members with unused or outgrown bicycles are encouraged to donate them by June 10 to help the exchange reach its goal in time for this year’s rodeo. Organizers say donations will be accepted throughout the summer as well.
“If we collect enough bikes by June 10, we’ll be at the Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo helping kids ride safely and confidently,” the group said.
To arrange a drop-off, donors can contact the Bike Exchange directly through social media, here.
