Nominations open for 2025 C-K Arts and Culture Heroes Wall of Fame

Who inspires you? Who deserves to be commemorated as a cultural builder or artistic hero?

Nominations are now open for the 2025 C-K Arts and Culture Heroes Wall of Fame, presented by the Chatham-Kent Arts & Culture Network (CKACN), operating as the Chatham-Kent Arts Council. Now in its fourth year, the award celebrates individuals from Chatham-Kent who have made a global impact in the arts and culture sector.

“People are amazed when they learn about the world-renowned people who hail from Chatham-Kent,” said Laurie Langford, Chair of the CKACN. “Literary luminary Robertson Davies, country superstar Michelle Wright, and Canadian folk icon Sylvia Tyson are just the tip of the iceberg.

“The 35 people already on the Arts and Culture Heroes Wall of Fame have shaped this region and Canada’s cultural identity as arts practitioners, teachers, mentors and builders. They’re part of the reason why C-K has a deep and vibrant cultural life, rich with music, visual art, dance, performance, and writing.”

The CK Heroes Selection Committee is now seeking nominations from the public. The nomination form is available online, here.

“All nominations must be submitted by June 15,” said James Snyder, Chair of the Selection Committee. “We’re looking for individuals and groups across six artistic disciplines that add vibrancy to our local cultural environment — dance, literary arts, music, theatre arts, visual arts, and cultural builders.”

In 2025, six living individuals — one from each artistic category — will be inducted, along with two legacy honourees. All eight will be celebrated at the Arts & Culture Wall of Fame Gala at the Chatham Cultural Centre on October 23, 2025.
