Enactus Lambton College hosts ‘One Future Finals’

Enactus Lambton College proudly hosted the thrilling One Future Finals, bringing together passionate elementary students from local schools to showcase their innovative projects focused on creating positive community impact.

This year, the Enactus team worked with 11 classes across both school boards, teaching 274 students essential skills in entrepreneurship.

Through a series of 10 hour-long sessions, students were tasked with identifying a social or environmental need in the community and developing presentations to outline their plan to inspire change.

Each cause had to reflect one of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

In all, over $7,600 was raised for local causes to help enact impactful change in the community.

For the second consecutive year, LKDSB schools have not only participated but triumphed — with PE McGibbon’s “Dental Heroes” team taking home the championship trophy.

Three teams from PE McGibbon demonstrated remarkable creativity and dedication, winning their respective leagues and advancing to the finals:

– League #1: PE McGibbon — Sensory for All

– League #2: PE McGibbon — Jewels for Change

– League #3: PE McGibbon — Dental Heroes (Finals Champions!)

In total, three LKDSB schools — PE McGibbon, QE Sarnia, and Hanna Memorial — showcased outstanding efforts throughout the competition, reflecting the commitment of the school board to empowering young leaders and fostering community-minded innovation.

The winning team, Dental Heroes, consisting of four talented students, proudly accepted their trophy from Rob Kardas, President & CEO, Lambton College.

Their success is a testament to the hard work and mentorship provided by their teacher, Ryan Lounsbury, and the supportive environment cultivated by LKDSB.

“It’s incredibly inspiring to see such creativity and passion from our young students as they tackle real-world challenges through the One Future competition,” stated Matt Sanders, LDKSB’s Experiential Learning Coordinator, in a media release.

“The success of PE McGibbon’s ‘Dental Heroes’ and all participating teams demonstrates the power of experiential learning and the bright future our students have as community leaders and innovators.”

This marks the second year in a row that an LKDSB school has won the One Future competition, building on last year’s success when High Park secured the top prize.
