Dr. Zeke Milkovic named as the permanent Chief of Staff for CKHA

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced the appointment of Dr. Zeke Milkovic as Chief of Staff, effective immediately.

Dr. Milkovic has been serving as Acting Chief of Staff for the past year and following an extensive search process led by the Board of Directors, he now assumes the role permanently.

A long-standing member of the local medical community, Dr. Milkovic has operated a family medicine practice in Chatham-Kent for over 30 years, CKHA officials say.

He has also served for several years as Chief of Family Medicine at CKHA, demonstrating his commitment to clinical excellence and collaborative leadership.

Dr. Milkovic is a founding physician and past Chair of the Board of the Thamesview Family Health Team, where he continues to play an active clinical and leadership role.

He has been instrumental in advancing team-based, patient-centered primary care in the region.

A strong advocate for medical education, Dr. Milkovic has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, since 2007.

He regularly mentors medical students and family medicine residents in both hospital and community settings and contributes to Schulich’s admissions and Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS) interview processes.

In 2019, he was recognized with the Award of Excellence in Teaching from Western University.

“Dr. Milkovic brings a wealth of experience and deep knowledge of both the hospital and community health care environments,” said Deb Crawford, Chair of CKHA’s Board of Directors, in a media release.

“His leadership as Acting Chief of Staff has been instrumental in supporting our medical staff and advancing patient care. We are delighted to welcome him to the role permanently.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Milkovic has championed innovation in care delivery, helping to lead the development of CKHA’s Telestroke Program and the restructuring of the Wallaceburg site’s Medicine Unit.

He has received numerous recognitions, including the CKHA Physician Excellence Award and the Team Stroke Award.

“I am honoured to take on this role and to continue working alongside our talented team of physicians, staff and leaders to support the delivery of safe, high-quality care for our patients and families,” said Dr. Milkovic.

Dr. Milkovic’s appointment as Chief of Staff will not impact his family practice, he will continue seeing patients as usual, and his commitment to primary care remains unchanged.
