Gratitude’s growth factor

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Gratitude is an interesting character quality.

Most things, due to prolonged usage, wear out or run out, but not with gratitude.

Gratitude grows the more you make use of it.

It was television celebrity, Oprah Winfrey, who once said, “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. When you concentrate on what you have, you’ll always end up having more.”

This past Mothers’ Day went from being a day of disappointment to a day of great enjoyment, all because our family chose to concentrate on what we had, instead of what we didn’t have.

Originally, my mom was to join my children in a celebration for my wife for Mothers’ Day.

It would have allowed everyone to be together on this special day.

However, plans changed at the last minute and my mom joined other family elsewhere.

Initially, we were focused on missing out on her presence, but then we decided to enjoy the day as it happened and find an alternate time to celebrate with my mom.

In the end, EVERYONE had a great day on Mothers’ Day!

The Bible sets the record straight plain and simple in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Let’s put this into practice this week and see what results we get.
