OPP K9 Unit helps track down impaired driver in Lambton County

OPP officials allege: A resident of Oil Springs is charged with impaired operation following a single-vehicle collision.

On July 1, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Courtright Line, near Sutorville Road.

Early investigation determined the vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of police arrival.

The West Region OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were deployed and successfully tracked and located an individual nearby, who was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

There were no injuries reported.

A 21-year-old Oil Springs man has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

– Operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol

– Failure or refusal to comply with demand

– Fail to remain

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Sarnia, on August 4, 2025.
