Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 30, 2025, at approximately 3:08 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police Service received a report regarding suspected impaired driving on Scane Road in Howard Township.
Shortly after, the individual was observed by the responding officer on O’Neil Line, where a traffic stop was initiated.
The driver failed to stop when directed and continued into a nearby cemetery, where police deployed stop sticks and surrounded the vehicle.
The individual refused to exit the vehicle, unlock the doors, or roll down the windows, while officers observed her smoking suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.
Officers breached the vehicle window, at which point the vehicle was turned off, and the driver was determined to be impaired.
The 71-year-old Blenheim woman was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for breath tests.
She was charged with impaired driving, having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and flight from police.
She was released with conditions and a future court date.
