🚨 Reminder from Chatham-Kent Police 🚨
With summer in full swing, there’s been a noticeable rise in people driving golf carts on public streets in Chatham-Kent. ⚠️
🚫Important to Know:
Golf carts are not recognized as legal motor vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act. They lack essential safety features: no proper lighting, turn signals, mirrors, seatbelts, or structural protection which makes them unsafe and illegal on public roads.
💰Consequences:
Driving a golf cart on public roads can result in fines, charges, and even vehicle impoundment.
👉 Stick to private property or designated areas unless municipal bylaws explicitly allow it. As of now, Chatham-Kent has no such permits in place.
Stay safe, enjoy your summer, and keep it legal! 🌞
