Theft in Chatham leads to multiple charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 12, 2025, approximately 21:17 Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft at a local retail store.

While patrolling the area, officers observed a 50-year-old male and a 33-year-old female both from Chatham-Kent riding bicycles within the area. The pair matched the description provided by the complainant and were stopped shortly after.

The 50-year-old male was charged with the following:

– Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The 33-year-old female was charged with the following:

– Theft Under $5,000

– Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

– Obstructing a peace officer

Both individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. The 33-year-old female was released with a scheduled court date of July 29, 2025, and the 50-year-old male was released with scheduled future court date of August 18, 2025.
