Sarnia Police Service officials allege: A 57-year-old Sarnia man has been charged following a single-vehicle collision that caused significant damage to traffic infrastructure in April.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of April 21, 2025, at the intersection of Wellington Street and Finch Drive. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, sustained a small facial fracture and was transported to Bluewater Health for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The collision resulted in multiple traffic signals being damaged and rendered inoperable. Bluewater Power was called to the scene to complete repairs, and the intersection remained closed for several hours.
Following an investigation by the Sarnia Police Service, the driver was arrested on July 14, 2025, and held for a bail hearing. He is facing the following charges:
– Theft of motor vehicle
– Dangerous driving
– Driving under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
– Driving with no licence (Highway Traffic Act)
