Chatham woman arrested twice for shoplifting

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is facing theft and possession charges after allegedly stealing from two stores on the same day.

Police say the first incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the woman was seen concealing merchandise and leaving a retail store on St. Clair Street without paying. She was located and brought to police headquarters.

Later that day, officers were called to a second nearby store, where the same woman allegedly repeated the offence.

She was arrested and charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
