Sarnia Police Service officials say: In partnership with the City of Sarnia Bylaw team, the Sarnia Police Service continues to respond to homelessness concerns across our city.
The SPS works in partnership with social service agencies to provide referrals and support services to those in need.
Homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges are not crimes.
On July 17, 2025, the Sarnia Police Service, in collaboration with the City of Sarnia Bylaw, launched an AI-driven hotline as a proactive response to community concerns regarding homelessness.
This new hotline will provide a dedicated reporting number for the community to report on issues pertaining to homelessness. Once a report is received, the response is appropriately assigned (e.g. IMPACT, City of Sarnia Bylaw, etc).
The intent of this hotline is to provide residents with a single point of contact to report a wide array of homelessness-related concerns. To use the hotline, simply call 519-346-HOME (4663) and follow the prompts to discern the best reporting mechanism.
– Report an encampment
– Report social disorder and other disruptive behaviours
– Check someone’s well-being
This number is also accessible to those experiencing homelessness and can be used to access various support services.
Informational business cards will be distributed by officers that contain hotline contact information:

This hotline is for non-urgent matters and does not replace the need to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
“While social issues may help explain criminal activity, they do not excuse it. Open drug use, indecent acts, theft, and violence are detrimental to our community’s safety. These crimes victimize residents, disrupt our small businesses, and interfere with the peace and enjoyment of our neighbourhoods. The SPS is committed to confronting these criminal acts in an effective way and, where possible, to work with willing individual offenders to address underlying causes of their behaviours,” stated Chief Derek Davis.
