Darlene Lauwereys

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Louise Lauwereys.

She passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the CKHA “Chatham Site” at the age of 61 years.

She was born in Wallaceburg, the daughter of the late George and Marguerite (Rabideau) Lauwereys.

Loving sister to Greg Lauwereys (Pat McMullen), Pat Lauwereys (Brenda), Karen Armitage (Brian), Melody Lauwereys, her twin and special sister, Denise Guthrie and the late Mark Lauwereys.

Dear Aunt to Jason Lauwereys (Nicole), Nicole Gardiner (Mike), Christina Sheeler (Adam), Mark Bernard (Chantelle), Lynn Martin (Brent), Mike Lauwereys (Tracy), and aunt and Godmother to Kelly Young (Daryle). She will also be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews and one great, great, niece.

Darlene loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.

She was proudly involved with the Draggin’Butts dragon boat team, who she paddled with for the past 20 years in the Sydenham Challenge.

She loved spending time with the animals at Charlotte‘s Freedom Farm. She will be missed by her many friends.

The late Darlene Lauwereys is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home (639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg 519-627-2861). Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Church.

Cremation will follow and the burial of ashes will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations to Charlottes’ Freedom Farm maybe left at the Funeral Home, by clicking the link below or to the charity of your choice.
