Man arrested on warrant after failed court appearance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 32-year-old Chatham man in connection with a May investigation involving a misused licence plate and false identification.

On May 9, 2025, the man attended police headquarters to retrieve ownership documents for a recently purchased vehicle. Police discovered the licence plate on the vehicle had been reported missing and registered to another individual. The man had also initially provided false ID.

He was charged with obstructing a peace officer and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and released with a court date. After failing to appear, a warrant was issued.

On July 22, officers arrested the man on the outstanding warrant. He is currently being held for bail.
