Ankle monitor tampered with, man arrested

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: A 31-year-old man with no fixed address is facing new charges after allegedly tampering with an ankle monitor and breaching bail conditions.

On July 22 at 11:57 p.m., police received a tamper notification from the device, which was later found cut off and discarded in a parking lot. The man was under a June 30 bail release with an 11 p.m. curfew and a requirement to reside at an Exmouth Street shelter.

On July 25 at 10:47 a.m., officers spotted the man walking along Exmouth Street. He attempted to flee but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. He was held for bail on three counts of failing to comply with a release order.
