Three new Family Medicine Residents join CKHA

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) announced three new Family Medicine Residents. Dr. Farwa Zaib, Dr. Mandeep Dran and Dr. Saheer Majeed began their post-graduate training at CKHA this July. The residents will gain valuable experience by working with local physicians and CKHA’s health care team to provide support and direction as they complete the clinical portion of their medical training.

“Chatham-Kent provides a unique and supportive environment for residents to grow both personally and professionally,” says Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Chief of Staff at CKHA. “They will have the chance to collaborate with dedicated healthcare teams and gain hands-on experience in diverse areas of Family Medicine. We are excited to see the impact they will have on our patients and the broader community during their time with us.”

Dr. Farwa Zaib earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of Windsor and her Doctor of Medicine at Schulich School of Medicine. She is eager to start her residency in Chatham-Kent, where CKHA’s community hospital environment will allow for more meaningful learning experiences, greater collaboration with the healthcare team, and a personalized approach to training. After her residency, Dr. Zaib hopes to practice in a community clinic where she can provide comprehensive health care and develop lasting relationships with her patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Zaib enjoys gardening and going to the movies.

“I am excited to begin my residency in Family Medicine,” says Dr. Zaib. “I’m particularly looking forward to training in Chatham, as the smaller hospital setting offers a more personalized, hands-on learning experience and the chance to build strong connections within the health care team.

Dr. Mandeep Dran earned her Bachelor of Arts from York University before completing her Doctor of Medicine at Avalon University School of Medicine. She has a strong interest in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology—fields that offer continuity of care, meaningful patient relationships, and the chance to support individuals through every stage of life. Dr. Dran is eager to explore Chatham-Kent and expand her medical knowledge at CKHA during her residency. She looks forward to honing her clinical skills and ultimately hopes to serve in underserved communities where she can make a lasting impact. Dr. Dran enjoys spending time outdoors, playing sports, and unwinding with a good book and a cup of coffee.

“I enjoy the idea of being involved in preventative care, education and advocacy,” says Dr. Dran. “After completing my residency, I plan to continue building my clinical skills while exploring opportunities to contribute to underserved communities where I can provide comprehensive care and build long-term relationships with patients.”

Dr. Saheer Majeed graduated from medical school in Pakistan, then moved to Alberta and pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of Alberta. She is interested in the areas of Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine, so she looks forward to spending her residency learning about and getting experience in the field of Family Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys sketching and painting, as well as relaxing with a good Netflix show. With a love for diverse cuisines, she’s also enjoying exploring Chatham’s many restaurants.

“My father was a Family Physician cardiologist, so I wanted to be a doctor like him my whole life,” says Dr. Majeed. “I want to take these residency years to explore my interests and get experience in [the Family Medicine] field.”
