Chatham man charged with arson following car wash fire

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing an arson charge following a fire at a car wash on Grand Avenue East.

Chatham-Kent police responded to the scene at approximately 11:50 p.m. on March 22, 2026. The fire had already been extinguished, and one person at the scene was assessed for possible smoke inhalation.

Police say CCTV footage identified a 62-year-old man as responsible for the fire.

He was charged with arson causing damage to property and later released with a future court date.
