Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing several charges after police responded to two incidents on Grand Avenue West late Tuesday night.
Chatham-Kent police say a man entered a convenience store around 11:20 p.m., took merchandise without paying and left the premises. He was later identified through CCTV footage.
Shortly after, officers were called to a nearby business where the same individual allegedly attempted another theft and threatened a 26-year-old Chatham man with an object.
Police arrested the suspect minutes later and transported him to headquarters. While in custody, the man allegedly damaged a camera in a holding cell.
He is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, robbery and mischief under $5,000. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
