Man arrested after alleged indecent act

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: A 26-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested Saturday night following an alleged indecent act near the Overflow Shelter on Exmouth Street.

Sarnia police were called to the area on Aug. 2, 2025, at 10:14 p.m. after reports that a man had exposed himself in front of the facility. Witnesses identified the suspect, with one telling officers, “he whipped his [genitals] out right over there,” while pointing to the grass in front of the shelter.

Officers later located the man at a nearby restaurant, where he was reportedly badgering customers in the drive-thru. He was placed under arrest at 10:31 p.m.

The man was held for a bail hearing and is facing the following charges:

– Indecent act

– Breach of probation ×4

Following the hearing, he was remanded into custody.

According to police, this marks the man’s 10th arrest in the past year, including 17 breach of probation charges, five charges for indecent acts, and 32 total charges across 40 interactions with police.

“While social issues such as addiction or homelessness may help explain criminal activity, they do not excuse it,” said Chief Derek Davis in a statement. “Open drug use, indecent acts, theft, and violence are detrimental to our community’s safety. These crimes victimize residents, disrupt our small businesses, and interfere with the peace and enjoyment of our neighbourhoods.

“The SPS is committed to confronting criminal acts within the lawful means available to us and, where possible, to work with willing individual offenders to address underlying causes of their behaviours.”
