Chatham man facing trafficking charge after late-night stop

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 28-year-old Chatham man is facing a drug trafficking charge after police pulled him over for a faulty headlight.

Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, officers stopped a westbound vehicle on Grand Avenue West. Police say the driver was unlicensed and alone in the vehicle. During the investigation, officers reportedly found drug-related items and seized approximately 7.6 grams of suspected cocaine.

The man was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
