Police seize $55-million in illegal cannabis in Haldimand County

OPP officials allege: Sixteen people are facing charges after a large cannabis bust in Haldimand County resulted in the seizure of more than $55 million worth of illegal product.

On July 16, 2025, members of the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, alongside several specialized units, executed a warrant at a rural property on Highway 3. Police say the site contained a large greenhouse operation with illegal cannabis plants in various stages of growth.

More than 107,000 plants and about 950 pounds of dried cannabis were seized. Officers also confiscated grow lights, machinery and cannabis processing equipment deemed to be offence-related property.

Sixteen individuals were each charged with cultivating cannabis without authorization and possession for the purpose of distribution. All were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
